Did you know that one of the most renowned and influential Holocaust historians in the world lived here in Burlington and taught here at UVM? Come to the Peace & Justice Center on Sunday, January 19th at 3pm for a conversation with Professor Alan Steinweis about the research and impact of Raul Hilberg. Hilberg’s seminal work The Destruction of the European Jews was a landmark moment in Holocaust studies, influencing countless subsequent historians and the global population in understanding the Nazi atrocities. Hilberg himself escaped Nazi-occupied Austria in 1939 with his family, ultimately coming to UVM in 1955.
